Our Coaching Courses run in 6-week blocks, with feedback and matchplay practice provided at the end of each block.  Following the 5th week's lesson, players will be given a Player Report from the coach to inform them of their improvement over the previous 5 weeks.  It will also inform you are ready to move up to the next level, or if you need further improvement before progressing.

We run each stage in 3 levels: 3 - 2 - 1.  Level 3 is for the beginners in that age-group and as players improve they will progress up through the levels.  For any players who are progressing quicker than average, we have Development and Performance squads available.

Please see below for information on our Mini Tennis, Junior Tennis and Adult Tennis courses.
For more information and to find out availability on the courses, please contact the Centre on (01978) 265260 or pop in and speak to a member of staff.

Mini Tennis (2 1/2 - 10 yrs)
Mini Tennis is the game of tennis modified for younger players on smaller sized courts, played with lighter rackets & lower bouncing tennis balls.  It is split into 3 stages:  Red, Orange & Green.  Players progress through these stages according to their age: Tots = 2 1/2 - 4 yrs, Red = 4 - 8yrs, Orange = 9yrs, Green = 10yrs.

For those players who are considered to be capable of playing above the national average for their age, we also have Development and Performance programmes in Mini Tennis, which focus on more advanced coaching techniques and tactics.  Please see the relevant Development and Performance sections for further information on these programmes, or visit the LTA website

Parent & Tots Lessons (2 1/2 - 4 yrs)
Our Parent & Tots lessons are the perfect way to get your little one involved in sport.
Led by one of our fully-qualified coaches, the lessons are 30mins long and the activities are designed to help them improve basic skills such as hand-eye co-ordination, balance and movement.  With you there on court to help them with each of the games and activities, they'll soon get comfortable with the new surroundings and will have a basic understanding of those skills, which will help them at the next stage of Mini Red.

Mini Red (4 - 8yrs)
Mini Red is the game for 4-8yr olds, played on a court that is approximately 1/4 the size of a regular tennis court with a lower net (80cm), using small tennis rackets (17-21") and sponge or low-bouncing felt balls.

We currently have coaching courses running every weeknight from 4pm - 7pm.

Mini Orange (9yrs)
Mini Orange is the game for 9 year olds, played on a full-size court but with a shorter baseline, narrower side lines and a lower net (80cm).  Recommended racket size at this stage is 23-25" and low-compression Orange balls are used.

We currently have coaching courses running on a Monday & Tuesday 4pm - 7pm.

Mini Green (10yrs)
Mini Green is the game for 10 year olds, played on a full-size court .  Recommended racket size at this stage is 25-26" and low-compression Green balls are used.
