Wrexham Tennis Centre
is designated as an LTA High Performance Centre – one of 18 in GB supported by the LTA to nurture and develop talent in tennis. It is currently
the only one in Wales, with hundreds of children from the North Wales and the North West areas accessing the coaching programme
on a weekly basis. The Head Coach is Dan Sanders (PCA), who has a team of highly qualified and experienced coaches working alongside him aiming to deliver a world class programme.
The Academy
runs an integrated programme, in line with the LTA Blueprint, from Mini Tennis through our Development squads and on to our High Performance programme. We also offer individualised professional and educational programmes on our full-time Academy & International Academy. The set-up at Wrexham is at its most successful and
is continuing to grow from strength to strength.
There is a Talent ID process operating within the Academy that fits into
the LTA’s National Talent ID structure so that children who show some ability and potential are identified, and may be invited to attend additional coaching sessions
as part of the Development programme. Children who progress to the more advanced stages will be encouraged
to play matches in club leagues and tournaments, whilst individual programmes will be designed for them, including fitness
training and competition schedules. Players and their parents will receive advice and support throughout
the programme to help them along the ‘Player Pathway’, which can potentially lead to funding opportunities.
